A large number of Carthians have died in Chicago since 2004, beginning with the deaths of several long-term Nosferatu members of the movement in a mysterious fire. This was followed by the killing of Jason Angelis by the order of Prince De Gao Shi in June of 2005, and the killing of Drake Bane in the fall of that year. Although Archon Raven made promises to Maren Nexus that no Carthians would be further executed without consultation with him, he gave the Praxis of Chicago to the Invictus Marcus Sherman in Feburary of 2006, and by the end of the next month, the Carthians Faolan O'Connor and Annie London were also dead.

Although each of the last four Carthians were supposedly executed for crimes against the city, the discerning Brother or Sister would consider skipping a visit to Windy City, and should certainly think twice before deciding to settle there. The writing on the wall is in blood, after all.
