Why Pages Are Protected
Pages may be protected due to a number of reasons:
- Visibility (Main Page)
- Vandalism
- To prevent inadventent editing (for instance, moving a page that shouldn't be moved)
- To stop editing of official pages
Types of Protection

Full Protection (so only administrators can edit the page)

Move Protection (so only administrators can move the page)

Proposed Protection (not protected, but requested by a user)
How to Protect a page
Users: simply type (on the discussion page) {{pleaseprotect|TYPE REASON HERE}} and {{protectproposal}} on the main article page. An administrator will review your request, and protect it for you.
Admins: click the Protect tab; type {{fullprotect}} or {{moveprotect}} to the top of the article page.
