Manifesto
The manifesto of The Independence Party like it looked like when the party was founded:
Overall
- Freedom for all people
- Encouraging able-bodied people to take responsibility for themselves
- Respect and toleration for all people
- Free trade and capitalism
Education
- Education is very important to The Independence Party, and we will have a school of variety. Not a school of equality, but a school designed to boost the gifted while still supporting the challenged.
- The Independence Party supports private schools. It is a dangerous world where the government controls all education.
- Parents should have several schools for their children to choose between.
Religion
- Religion is not the state's business, and the state should therefore stay out of it.
- State schools should teach about all religions unless this instruction is refused by the child's parents. Children should be encouraged to make their own informed opinions about what they believe.
- Teaching of religion in state schools should be educational and never persuasive.
- Homosexuals should have the same rights as heterosexuals, but the state should not force a church to marry a homosexual couple.
Economy
- The Independence Party supports free trade, and wants therefore to minimize government subsidies.
- The number of state-operated companies should be kept to a minimum. Education and healthcare are among the few things that should be operated by the state.
Healthcare
- Healthcare services and hospitals should be owned by the state, and shall provide free healthcare to all citizens.
- We support private health services so long as they're registered and approved by the state. The private sector must provide the same standard as the public sector.
Environment
- The Independence Party recognizes that Earth's environment must be protected. We believe that the preservation of the environment should be a joint endeavor between the government, corporations, and private citizens.
United Nations (UN)
- The Independence Party feels that the UN is an overly left-wing organization that is an affront to national sovereignty. We believe, because of this, that the UN should be shut down.
- Recognizing that the UN will continue to exist whether we like it or not, the Independence Party wishes to support our regional delegate and supports optional membership in the UN.
Military
- The Independence Party supports the use of the military as a tool of defence only. We oppose all forms of agressive military action.
