| |
| | | |
- | The policy of the Liberalian Labor Party is contained in its Regional Platform (Manifesto), which is approved by delegates to Labor's Regioanl Conference. The Labor nickname for their broad social reform goals is The Program. The Labor policy believes a government must have a popular mandate for its policies and a Labor Government will set out to achieve its Program. In a speech prior to the October 2006 elections Prime Minister Kurt said: ''"The Labor Party has got a Program. A checklist of social reform that we need approved with a popular mandate from the people to enact. The party is new, yes, but it has enthusiasm, a vision and determination. Our program’s three great aims are to:Promote equality, socially, sexually, economically and racially.
| |
- | Further involve the people of Liberalia in the decision making process of our region and to liberate the talents and uplift the horizons of all the Liberalian people."''

- | == Education ==
| |
- |
| |
- | Education should be the great engine of equality, an investment not a expense. When elected, the Labor party vows to maintain the Fernetti Government reforms to the education system, from preschool to all forms of tertiary learning and improve its effectiveness. The guiding principle will be the need based funding system, equalisation of material resources provided to students in all schools (Government and Private). A Labor Government will implement:
| |
- |
| |
- | 1.The creation of a Liberalian Schools Commission to determine the needs of Government and Private schools, and the introduction of needs based Regional Government funding for schools.
| |
- | 2.Maintaining the abolition of Higher Education fees, so as to make Higher Education more accessible to lower income groups.
| |
- | 3.The assumption of full Regional Government responsibility for full funding of tertiary education, including teachers colleges.
| |
- | 4.The creation of a Pre-schools Commission to extend child-care facilities to all children.
| |
- |
| |
- | == Labor Health Masterplan ==
| |
- |
| |
- | Labor aims to implement its Health Masterplan to nationalise the health system. The masterplan will begin by setting up the nationalised Regional Health Service (RHS) which will be complimented the creation of Medibank, a universal public Health Insurance as opposed to private medical care and insurance which only benefits the well-off.
| |
- |
| |
- | ''RHS Regional Health Service''
| |
- | The LLP supports publicly provided medical, hospital and community health services, staffed by salaried doctors, in preference to the private medical practice. The basic government responsibility to plan efficient and accessible health services. Labor will deliver.
| |
- |
| |
- | ''Medibank''
| |
- | A Liberalian Health Insurance needs to be installed, facilitating access to hospital and medical services for citizens. It will provide the following criteria:
| |
- | ·Universal coverage of the population, through compulsory participation.
| |
- | ·Comprehensiveness of principle benefits.
| |
- | ·Contributions based on income, rather than individual insurance purchases.
| |
- | ·Cost control through administrative mechanisms, including binding fee schedules, global budgets and limitations on system capacity.
| |
- | ·Institutions will be established to preside over the planning and development of the wide range of complimentary primary health care services.
| |
- | ·The bulk billing system will be established to promote the availability of medical services for which there would be no charge at the point of use.
| |
- | ·It covers dental health for Liberalian children and women’s health.
| |
- |
| |
- |
| |
- | == Environment ==
| |
- |
| |
- | Labor will legislate for environmental protection and reform. firstly, putting forward its Sustainable Cities Act. This is available for viewing on the Labor Page. Please make note that this will not infringe private residential properties. It Mainly focuses on high rises and public property and sustainable management of built up areas to reduce harm caused by human habitats and pollution. It also promotes permaculture locations in urban settings.
| |
- | Labor wants to improve present environment laws. It consider's this issue so important that it plans enforce all Liberalian nations to reduce all greenhouse emisions and harmful material dumpage by a minimum of 80% of its current levels in a twenty year time frame. Industry will be taxed according to its emisions. A huge funding boost to sustainable energy technology will be commenced.
| |

| |
- |
| |
- | == International Integrated Transport Act ==
| |
- |
| |
- | We exist as a confederation of hundreds of nations, but every country has its own system for road and rail transport. Labor suggests the complete overhaul of the entire transport network of Liberalia. We shall plan as a region than as an agglomerate of states.
| |
- | ·All railways and trains will use a single standardised gauge
| |
- | ·A new regional highway network will be built and linked to the planned international railway system- Liberail.
| |
- | ·Public transport such as trains and international bus services will be free to concessions and available to adults at minimal fares.
| |
- | ·A huge overhaul of airports and seaports will take place and allow greater infrastructure.
| |
- | ·The new transport networks will be designed to comply with the proposed Sustainable Cities Act and the in place Fossil Fuels Act. Being undisruptive to the environment and aesthetically pleasing in urban areas, using sustainable fuels.
| |
- |
| |
- | == Judicial ==
| |
- |
| |
- | ·Labor will create a Constitutional Draft, based upon already recognised Liberalian Law, Parliamentary/Executive/Judicial Procedure and the articles of Confederation but made clear in one simple official document. To compliment a constitution a Bill of Rights and Responsibilities will be drafted, and will be voted together in the Parliament to authorise.
| |
- | ·This will be a good simple tool for all Liberalian legal reference and will provide clear understanding of our laws and rights in one place.
| |
- | ·The Fairer-Liberalia Act will be put in place to ensure that there is a trial and an adequate and fair chance for all those accused for crimes against the region. Labor acknowledges (through its leader’s own experience), that the system isn’t perfect and decisions to ban someone, especially for accusations that someone is a puppet state, must be decided with the utmost scrutiny and legal procedure. This way Labor ensures those that are innocent are not wrongfully accused as puppets for known criminals.
| |
- | Because of the belief that the Program must be endorced by a majority popular mandate Labor supports universal voting of all people above 18 years old. It has a policy which allows optional voting for people between 16-18.
| |
- |
| |
- | == Region Building ==
| |
- |
| |
- | Labor supports Cooperative People’s suggestions for greater involvement and regional infrastructure to improve the quality and culture of Liberalia. A Labor Government will establish a Region Building Commission to come up with new infrastructure to set up and fully invigorate the Region. What’s the point of life without the music?
| |
- |
| |
- | == Employment ==
| |
- |
| |
- | The Labor Party is working to improve Industrial Relations and the rights of working people. We also have a scheme proposal to lower unemployment rates and get people on welfare, who has the ability to participate in the work force through a supportive and flexible system. This is very relevant as the baby boomers, a large bulk of our population are reaching retirement age. In some nations, schemes like this have been attempted but have resulted in nothing but loss of freedoms and benefits in the workplace, with people being tossed off welfare to low paid jobs without any alternative. The LLP acknowledges the necessity to not create another big business endorsed ‘Welfare-to-Poverty” schemes and has created a plan that improves people’s opportunities rather than reduces. This is a real Welfare-to-Work Scheme, which would:
| |
- |
| |
- | ·Establish voluntary well-staffed public programs for those who wish to enter the work force, not outsourcing welfare services and would renationalise the job network;
| |
- | ·Provide free, quality, education and training;
| |
- | ·Tackle workplace accessibility, discriminatory employment policies and other trade barriers to employment;
| |
- | ·Create strong legislation against employment discrimination and unfair dismissal;
| |
- | ·Extend entitlements such as sick leave, carers’ leave and annual leave to part-time and casual employees on pro-rata basis, and guarantee access to family friendly working hours and part-time work;
| |
- | ·Provide free, quality childcare, holiday and after-school programs, and introduce an employer-funded, regional, paid maternity leave scheme;
| |
- | ·Immediately pay all workers an award wage and abolish all mutual obligation requirements.
| |
- |
| |
- |
| |
- | == Infrastructure and the Arts ==
| |
- |
| |
- | Labor is a nation building party and intends that every Liberalian nation will have appropriate infrastructure, that is, housing, public transport, sanitation, health and educational facilities and recreational areas that are accessible to all demographics regardless of minority or economic status. All communities deserve a fair go and a decent living condition.
| |
- | The Arts will benefit from a Labor Government, which the creation of a National Art Gallery and financial support for cultural and heritage endeavours.
| |
- |
| |
- |
| |
- | == Gun Control ==
| |
- |
| |
- | Labor will make it against the law to own firearms and will reduce their usage in our security services. Like Great Britain, police will not be allowed to publicly have guns, and issued with batons instead. As to the armed forces, Labor will work to down size it, so there won’t be much of an issue of a police state.
