AUSSIE: The Shadows... How I detest them...

{fade in to TV Tower}

AUSSIE: This was my place of residence, the TV Tower, jewel of City X.

{the TV tower fades to its Shadowed version}

AUSSIE: And this is what they've done to it. It's not just the Tower they've taken over... most of the city's fallen to these... Shadows.

{fade to picture of Shadow Grunts}

AUSSIE: I had to flee the city. Who are these guys anyway? They're like demons of myth... I need to find out what these Shadows are, what they want with the city, and how I can get the Tower back.

Trying to reenter City X

AUSSIE: They've put up some kind of barrier... I can't get in.

Turning on the VDT

VDT: Welcome to the VDT network.

Save Point

Save Point: Open the [Menu] and select [Save] to save the game.

Buying an Item

MAN: Hey, hi, hello! Welcome to my shop! I've got what you need, when you need it! What'll you have?

Purchase

MAN: That'll be a <item> for you?

[Yes]

MAN: Very well! Here you are, sir!

[No]

MAN: Changed your mind? Well, there's always the other stuff!

Decline

MAN: Nothing for you now, eh? Well, you'll be back. They always come back!

Meeting Alpha

{Aussie enters a long-abandoned building. Inside is pitch-black, save a single light at the other end of the room.}

AUSSIE: Eugh... this place is giving me the creeps.

{Suddenly, the lights flicker on to show the room teeming with shadows.}

SHADOW: Stop right there!

AUSSIE: An ambush? ... Dammit!

{Just then, a strange, rusted robot at the other end of the room gets up, brandishes a pistol, and offs a couple Shadow Grunts.}

AUSSIE: Aah!

SHADOW: What the hell-?

{The robot runs up to the Shadow and pistol whips him, knocking him to the ground.}

AUSSIE: ... Don't shoot, please!

ALPHA: ... I am Alpha. Pleased to meet you.

AUSSIE: Do you mind explaining what just happened?!

ALPHA: I sensed an unwelcome presence and I acted upon it. Why, is that nothing that you would do in the same case?

AUSSIE: Well, I'm not saying that at all, I just-

ALPHA: You're weak.

AUSSIE: What the-?

ALPHA: Allow me to assist you. Perhaps my contributions would be valuable.

{The robot starts to leave the building.}

ALPHA: Come, now. This squalid room is hardly as inviting as the city outside.

{Aussie sighs and follows suit.}

Silver Hood's house

{Cut to SI and Aussie standing outside of it.}

ALPHA: I would think this is much better than most domiciles we have explored.

AUSSIE: Well, don't let looks deceive you.

ALPHA: I'm scanning something... metallic? Wh-

{A huge block of metal falls where SI is. He steps out of the way before getting hit.}

SILVER HOOD: Go away.

AUSSIE: But Mr. Hood, we-

{Another cube falls from the sky.}

SILVER HOOD: ...Are you dead yet?

AUSSIE: No. Now we're coming in.

'SILVER HOOD: You'll never make it!

AUSSIE: Just try us.

{Aussie heads in.}

ALPHA: It would be optimal for me to enter as well, don't you think?

{Alpha runs in.}

Meeting Silver Hood

{Aussie and SI run into Silver Hood's room, a huge white space.}

AUSSIE: Silver Hood! You need to come with us.

SILVER HOOD: And why should I do that?

AUSSIE: We'll knock you out and take you by force if you don't.

SILVER HOOD: Well, good luck then.

{Silver Hood turns around. Boss Battle!}

{afterwards}

SILVER HOOD: You two seem compitent.

AUSSIE: So are you coming with us?

SILVER HOOD: Hmm...no.

AUSSIE: Why not?

SILVER HOOD: I have too much to do! Now you can stay in this place as long as you want, but I don't want to-

ALPHA: Excuse me, robed man. It would be optimal if you were to help us in our quest. We are trying to take down the Shadows.

SILVER HOOD: What was that?

ALPHA: The Shadows.

SILVER HOOD: {takes a look at Aussie} ...Fine. You two...are...adequate. Let's go.

{Silver Hood teleports them to outside of the house.}

Alpha's Mission

{Open: a camp at the base of the mountain of fire. Raiku, injured, is on a cot. Silver Hood is sitting with his face turned away from the rest of the group. Aussie is sitting, his head in his hands. Alpha walks in from outside.}

ALPHA: ... You look troubled, Aussie.

AUSSIE: Yeah... I'm dealing with a lot.

ALPHA: That would seem like an adequate excuse to mope around.

AUSSIE: Not now, Alpha.

ALPHA: ... If there's any way I can help, it would be optimal for me to do so.

SILVER HOOD: Get my mask. Do that for me.

ALPHA: ... I do not recall asking you, but that seems optimal.

SILVER HOOD: Good. Now get on with it.

AUSSIE: Hood, can you quit it? Your attitude's getting a bit grating.

SILVER HOOD: If you were crippled in one fell swoop, you'd feel like crap too.

{Pause.}

AUSSIE: I guess so.

ALPHA: If there is anything else I can do, I could arrange as such.

AUSSIE: Well... there's a strange plant growing near the top of the mountain. Crag Moss, they call it.

ALPHA: Excuse me, but... I believe I know what you're assuming. This Crag Moss can heal Raiku's injuries and you'd like me to get it. I know that you are helping nurse him back to health, so it would be optimal for me to go alone.

AUSSIE: Well, I would have come with, but... I guess that's fine. Just- just don't get hurt, okay?

ALPHA: Not a problem.

{Alpha leaves the tent.}
