Background
Myrene Carnegie seemed normal enough, even past the manifestation of her powers. The ability to bend a spoon and form it back into shape was a party trick for friends when they were high. Beyond being your "average" teen, she was brilliant at computer programming. When she entered college, she was already being hailed as the next up and coming programmer. Her genius has occasionally been compared to that of Stark's, but she considers this an insult, since she has no interest in the design and manufacture of weapons (although she did intern there).
She occasionally would cause things to short circuit, and has learned to not be around electronics when angry. Her powers were detected by Mr. Sinister, and he saw potential in manipulating her genetic structure to further his means. He forced her body to absorb metal and as a result her powers grew exponentially.
Myrene was rescued from Sinister by S.H.I.E.L.D. during a raid on his compound. She had been kept unconscious for most of Sinister's experiments, and has difficulty controlling her expanded capabilities. In exchange for her rescue, Myrene occasionally works for S.H.I.E.L.D., in the field and in programming. S.H.I.E.L.D., in return, helps to maintain her civilian identity, and keep the fact that she is a mutant out of the public realm.
