Angela was a homicide cop in Los Angeles whose sister Isabel was committed to the psychiatric ward at a local hospital. Everything changed when Isabel committed suicide. It led Angela to seek out John Constantine, a local exorcist/occultist with the ability to sense demons and angels. Angela and Constantine realized she and Isabel were psychics, and he helped her undergo a 'reawakening' so she could sense the same things he did. They worked together to foil a plot by the son of Satan (aided by a psychotic Gabriel) to come into the world with the help of the Spear of Destiny, but not before Angela was kidnapped and possessed for a time.
