The National Bureau of Intelligence (Filipino: Pambansang Kawanihan ng Pagsisiyasat), or NBI, is an intelligence agency in the Republic of the Philippines. It is an attached agency of the Department of Justice. Much like the U.S.'s Central Intelligence Agency, its primary function is collecting and analyzing information in order to advise public policymakers. It obtains such information by means of espionage, communication interception, cryptanalysis, cooperation with other institutions, and evaluation of public sources. The organization's budget and number of personnel remain classified, as do its inner workings and operations, but it is widely known that it coordinates its efforts closely with the CIA and other Western intelligence agencies.
