The Iranian Imperial Guard is the elite branch of the Imperial Iranian Ground Force. Originally tasked to guard the Shah, the Imperial Iranian Guard has expanded from its original 500 men to two divisions, each 15,000 strong, along with a smaller 5,000 man force designed to act as the Shah's personal guard and the garrison force for Tehran, the Shahanshahi Regiment. The Imperial Guard is one of the most highly trained, well equipped, and potent fighting forces in the entire world, with the equipment of the Imperial Guard considered extremely effective and potent technological breakthroughs which cost far too much to equip the entire military with. Each of the Imperial Guard divisions operates as a mechanzied force, with 10,000 of the soldiers carried to battle in infantry fighting vehicles, supported by 500 Shir III MBTs.
