The Coalition of Sovereign Nations, or CoSN, is a mutual defense organization founded by the Empire of Brazil on December 20, 2007. Previously a neutral nation, Brazil grew alarmed by the growing clout of the American Empire and the Soviet Union, as well as the increasingly frequent manifestations of aggression and belligerence by them. Joining with several like-minded nations, Brazil formed CoSN to provide a safety net for the "free world" in the event of a future war. Knowing that only a broad-based united stand could possibly deter future aggression (especially against themselves) they signed a pact promising that, in the event one of them is attacked, the others will come to the aid of the attacked nation.
CoSN has been careful, however, to couch its intentions in a way as to avoid arousing Soviet or American suspicion; notably, the alliance makes no mention of either nation, and stipulates only that "in the event of aggression" will members come to each others aid, without naming a specific aggressor.
Even so, political analysts believe that the American Empire is well aware of the alliance's purpose, due to its establishment of a defensive organization of its own, the Iron Alliance, immediately after CoSN's founding.

- To prevent possible causes of difficulties and to ensure the pacific settlement of disputes that may arise among the member states.
- To provide for common action on the part of those states in the event of aggression.
- To seek the solution of political, judicial, and economic problems that may arise among them.
- To observe non-interference in the internal affairs of member states, and recognize and respect the right of member states to conduct national affairs in the matter they see fit, provided it does not compromise the security of any member state, infringe upon the sovereignty or territorial integrity of fellow member states, or imperil regional or global commerce.
- To promote, by cooperative action, the economic, social, and cultural development of member states.
- To collaborate in, and consolidate the efforts of, efforts by member states to eliminate crime, piracy, terrorism, and subversion by hostile forces.
[edit] Requirements for membership
To be applicable for membership, a nation-state must meet each of the following criteria:
- The nation must demonstrably follow liberal principles (i.e., representative government, respect for human rights); however, the nation's economic system and political/ideological orientation are of no consequence.
- The nation must agree to militarily aid fellow members in the event of infringement of a member's sovereignty, territorial integrity, or security by external forces.
Violation of any of these principles, or initiation of aggression against a fellow member state, will result in the violator and/or aggressor's immediate expulsion from the organization.
Any nation which meets these criteria and pledges to adhere to the policies and goals of this organization will receive membership upon ratification of the Charter by that nation's government and signature of the Charter by the foreign minister of that government.
