The Kingdom of Italy (Italian: Regno d'Italia) is a state forged in 1861 by the unification of Italy under the influence of the Kingdom of Sardinia. The Kingdom is the first Italian state to include the entire Italian Peninsula since the fall of the Roman Empire.
The National Fascist Party under Benito Mussolini took power in 1922. Since Mussolini's death in the 1959, Alfonso Graziani, son of former Defence Minister Rodolfo Graziani, was elected Prime Minister.
