The Laborers of Catan is an adaption to The Settlers of Catan created by Jamie Wilson. These rules are unsupported by the official Catan site.
[edit] The Story
Hard times have fallen upon Catan and families are separated as loved ones venture to distant lands to work.
[edit] Rules
[edit] Playing
- Each player starts with two worker tokens of the appropriate color. During their turn a player may purchase a laborer for 1 wheat and 1 wool. They can then place this laborer on any tile that does not connect to any of their roads, cities, or settlements. From then on when the dice are rolled if the hex with one of their laborers on it is rolled, they receive production as if they had a settlement there.
- Whenever a 7 is rolled or any other event that would cause the robber to be moved, the robber may be placed on a tile with a laborer and instead of stealing a resource card from an adjacent player they may chase away the laborer. A laborer that is chased away is returned to the controlling player's stock and can be re-used again.
- If at any time a player builds a road, settlement or city adjacent to a tile with one of his or her own laborers, that laborer is returned to the controlling player's stock and can be re-used again.
- Using laborers adds one to the total number of victory points needed to win. So in a basic game, the first player to 11 victory points wins.
