With global headquarters in Detroit, GM manufactures its cars and trucks in 35 different countries around the world and sells them under the brands of Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GM Daewoo, GMC, Holden, Hummer, Opel, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn and Vauxhall.

In 2009, GM was sold to the United States and Canadian government for $59.9 billion.
