Story

In the future man is fighting a war against the aliens known as the Covenant. Earth's last hope is a robot known as Master Chief. Early in the first game, the humans find "Halo" and try to discover what it is (see below). Master Chief then runs into another form of aliens known as The Flood who feed on the humans. The release of the Flood prompts 343 Guilty Spark (the annoying light bulb) to recruit the Master Chief in retrieving the Index, a device that will activate Halo and prevent the Flood from spreading beyond the facility. After the Master Chief retrieves and begins to use the Index, he discovers that Halo's defense system is a weapon designed to kill all life in the galaxy. Then then discover the only way to succeed in destroying Halo is to blow it up and they do so and everyone is happily ever after... or until the second game came out.

Halo2

Halo2 introduces a new character known as The Arbiter. By the end of the game, Master Chief and The Arbiter have become friends.

Halos

The Halos were designed as extermination tools to kill The Flood. However, instead of directly killing the Flood, the ring was designed to kill the food source of The Flood. What the flood eat:

  • humans
  • cats
  • dogs
  • the Covenant
  • themselves

It is learned from The Annoying Light Bulb that the installation technically only has a maximum radius of twenty-five thousand light-years, but that its pulse would trigger other similar installations as well, killing all sentient life in the galaxy.
