The Jayatsu EC will be an electric car manufactured by Jayatsu Motors. In North America, the Jayatsu EC will be known as the RMC Charge.
History
In 2008, it was announced that So Motors is working on an electric version of their So Car. The new car was called the So EC-1.
In 2009, So Motors was purchased by Jatatsu Industrial and shortly after, Jayatsu renamed So Motors the Jayatsu Motors. Soon after, Jayatsu renamed their electric car from the So EC-1 to the Jayatsu EC.
In March, it was announced that the Jayatsu EC will be based more off the Jayatsu Vee than the So Car.
RMC Charge
In early 2009, a partnership was made between So Motors and Richards Motor Company. The deal would let RMC sell the So EC-1 in North America. It was announced that the RMC Charge would only be sold in limited numbers.
It was announced in February that originally the RMC Charge will be mostly built in Korea in the existing So Car Plant. The parts will be sent to the United States. A new RMC Manufacturing Plant will be opened in the future where the Charge will be finished being built. Instead of opening dealerships, the RMC Charge will be sold at existing Jayatsu dealerships.
In March it was confirmed that the RMC Charge will be sold in the United States. RMC will open a new manufacturing plant somewhere in the United States to assemble the car. It has yet to be announced where the cars will be sold but people can currently preorder Charges at current Jayatsu dealerships in the United States.
