Hannukah is a Jewish holiday celebrated in December, marking the ever lasting oil which lasted for eight days in a time when oil was hard to find.
There are 9 candles on a m'nora. Every night on sunset, the Shamash and one other candle are lit. On the second day two others besides the Shamash are lit and so on until the 8th day.
