In the first half of 2018, it was decided, after Kehilah BBYO had reached a very large size and not enough Alephs were getting leadership positions, that it was time to split into a Kehilah AZA and a Kehilah BBG. Two separate boards were elected at ChapCon 2018 and built up the AZA and BBG sections of Kehilah over the course of that fall. The split officially happened during a meeting at BTBJ on January 16, 2019. At this meeting, Kehilah BBYO #5405 became Hatmadah AZA #1943 and Kochavim BBG #1635.
