Though the Hebrew word Godol actually translates to "big," the Aleph Zadik Aleph (AZA) use this term to mean president. The Godol is the head board member, whether that be on the chapter, council, regional, or international level.

Grand Aleph Godol

The international Godol is called the Grand Aleph Godol (GAG). He represents the Order of the Aleph Zadik Aleph at the highest level. Due to the amount of traveling done by the GAG, as well as the time and dedication needed to be put into his work, the positon of Grand Aleph Godol is almost always reserved for an Aleph who has graduated high school and will be taking a year off of college.

Regional/ Council Godol

A regional Godol is the president of his particular area, or region. Godols of council pre-dominate regions have the same responsibilities as any other regional Godol. Councils that are not council pre-dominate have a Council Godol who serves under the Regional Godol.

An example of a Regional/ Council Godol's duties are:

1. To preside at all business meetings.

2. To appoint Extended Board positions and committees with the assistance of the Aleph S'gan and the Executive Board.
