Although there are other way to chat such as skype, AIM, ooVoo and etc., Facebook can also be a convenient way to talk to people. If the person you wish to speak to is online, you can send and receive message instantly and if they are not online, they will receive the message as soon as they log on which is convenient for those who live in places with different time zones. Facebook also recently updated their chatting application so that people in the same Facebook group can chat amongst each other instead of having to send individuals members the same message over and over. This allows everyone to openly share their thoughts and opinions on a certain topic without having to worry about not being heard. Also Facebook will save all your previous messages in the Inbox so that you can always have it to refer back to when needed. The only downside I can see to this application is that is not customizable such as the fonts, colors and size but Facebook is constantly changing and advancing so I can see this becoming part of Facebook chat soon!Like I mentioned previously, Facebook is accessible to anyone with internet so, in a educational setting, Facebook chat could be used amongst students to share their ideas and opinions on work given in a classroom. It is not the most professional way to communicate with others so it may seem a bit odd to see a teacher chatting with students through this application but most students already have an account, so why not take advantage of that?
