There are the FireFox Extensions that I have loaded at all times because they rock and everybody should have them. They are in no particular order.

I started this page before I was aware of Wikipedia:List of Firefox extensions.

Contents

THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT ONE

The "Must Have" List

  • ChatZilla
  • DownThemAll
  • FireFTP
  • leetkey
  • IE Tab
  • PDF Download
  • Adblock Plus
  • Tab Mix Plus
  • VideoDownloadHelper (Go here to learn how to convert from .flv)
  • FlashGot will allow you to download RealPlayer files. See this guide on how to convert from there. I, personally, use dbPowerAMP music converter after FlashGot.
  • Open In Broswer - let you open any type of file as a text file in FireFox
  • Toggle Word Wrap - excellent for viewing plain text files that don't have line breaks in FireFox - it puts you in control of word wrap like in text editors.
  • Tab to Window - lets you turn tabs into new windows without copying and pasting the URL. Unfortunately, it does appear to be reloading the page when it ought to just "pop out" the already loaded page.
  • Web Developer - does alot of web developer stuff including, for those of us with the newfangled wide flatscreen monitors, resizing windows to show what pages would look like on 800x600 screens.

There are probably others that are worth getting too and if you know of any good ones (not crappy ones - good ones) then post on the Talk:Firefox Extensions page.

People can also help by adding links and/or descriptions to the ones I've listed here.

  • SpiderZilla used to be on this list because it is a totally awesome tool but it needs to be fixed for compatibility with FireFox 3.

The "Sometimes Helpful" List

Ones I am investigating

Dunno if these are good or not yet.

Features I would like to see become Firefox extensions

  • A telnet client
  • A replacement for instant messengers like Trillian or Miranda availible as a firefox extension (call it IMZilla maybe?)
  • Add an option to the menu that appears when you right-click on tabs that will change the tab into a new window without reloading the page. (Tab to Window reloads the page)
