Nik gave me a winced smile, afraid he'd hurt me.<br><br> I'd have lied if I said he hadn't. Abby, in a whining voice, said, "Please don't talk about me like I'm not here."<br><br> I sighed and opened the door of the van. Aidan looked at Abby curiously. "Who's the yellow-head lady?"<br><br> I sighed again. Pain. "Nik will tell you later."<br><br> Ashlynn peeped her head out as I helped her out the van. "She looked just like me," she whispered, looking lost.<br><br> I kissed her forehead. "I know."<br><br> Abby, eyes wide and filled with tears, bent down to the twins' level. "Hi, Ashlynn, Aidan." She held each of their hands gently, speaking in a soft voice. "I'm your Mommy."<br><br> Ash slipped her hand out of Addy's and into mine. "My Mommy left me. I want Lady Lynn to be my Mommy now." I saw Ash wipe at her eye, sniffling softly.<br><br> Aidan shook his head and wrapped both of his arms around my legs. "No."<br><br> Abby looked as shattered as broken glass. Nik put a hand on her shoulder. "Don't force then, Abby." She nodded and looked away, tears dripping from the edges of her eyes.<br><br> Ash yanked on my hand.
