[edit] Foundations

The earliest known records of Irithism is in the 1500's, in the book E Irith by Helton Marquana. This carries all of today's conceptions of Irithism (including a set of Gods and a central worshipping point), and was adopted as Irithism's holy book.

[edit] Irithism in history

Followers often travelled to Jér Mounsaigne, to the south of Avellia, to worship Irith, the Mother of all Things. This used to be an arduous journey, and many died as a result. So many people did this as one of the Irith Commands is Thou must visit the holy place.

[edit] Irithism today

Due to the advent of technology, as well as the declining activity of the Avellian people, less people actively take up Irithism, however, 61% of people said Irithism was their religion in the 5498 census, and Jér Mounsaigne has recently had a boom in the amount of people undertaking pilgrimage.

[edit] Criticism

Irithism has been criticised for making some of its followers take a harrowing journey in order to be accepted.
