West Coast special election, 2015

The 2015 West Coast special election was a gubernatorial election held on November 3, 2015 to replace former Democratic Governor Lilliam Vanleer following her resignation in 2015. It resulted in the election of Democrat David Cromartie to fill out the remaining 3 years of Vanleers term. Cromartie was uncontested on election day.
The position of Lieutenant Governor remained vacant until Jack Thomas was elected in the 2016 general election.

Candidates
Democratic Party
- David Cromartie - Congressman from California's 9th Congressional District since 2009 and former House Majority Leader during the 113th Congress (2013 - 2014).
Republican Party
- Felix Cavendish - Secretary of the Treasury in the Warren Administration since 2013. Cavandish expressed interest in running for Governor and went as far setting up a formal campaign infrastructure. However, he later withdrew from the race.
