Timeline
The race begins
In mid 2025, Great Lakes Senator, Judiciary Committee Chairwoman and former Senate Majority Whip, Abby Brocklin formed an exploratory committee. She was the first to do so out of either party, doing so 3 years before the election and 2 years before the Iowa Caucus. She was shortly followed by Mississippi Valley Governor Ellis Dailey Forrestal. Forrestal had shown early support in polls for the Iowa Primaries, while Brocklin was expected to earn liberal Democrats support. Senator Jason Richards also joined the race, thus closing Iowa pollings down. Shenandoah Valley Senator Sebastian Williams, former New York Senator Jim Harkins and Congresswoman Priya Aziz-Green also announced their candidancies
Early Endorsements
Former Presidential candidate Michael Casmir appeared in Forrestal's announcement rally, with Senators Daniel Perogo, Adam Jackson and Juliet Wentworth. Senator Brocklin, while not having announced her candidancy at a public event yet, has already earned the support of former Governor Johnny Green, Senators Thaddy Washington and James McCoy, West Virginia's popular Cecil Vance and Congresswoman Vivien Douglas. In a press release following his retirement from Congress Senator Daniel Morey (R-TN) expressed his support for his wife's candidacy. A formal endorsement is expected for a time closer to the elections. Jason Richards will count with the endorsements of House Leadership (Trevor Jensen & Mitch Davis) and Southeast Senator Carlo Zipolo. The other candidates have not officially announced their candidancies nor recieved any early endorsements.
