Straw polls were held in the crucial early states of [[Iowa]] and [[South Carolina]] in the [[Republican Party|Republican]] [[Republican Party presidential primaries, 2016|2016 Presidential primary]]. The Ames, Iowa straw poll was sponsored by And They're Off! and won by [[Andrew Merrilin]] while the South Carolina straw poll was sponsored by the Warren Institute and won by [[Vincent Halfhyde]].
