Nigeria is still West Africa's largest economic power, but it's GDP rapidly cooling under stagnating under failing crops and a sharp decline in oil exports. Nigeria is fragmenting and feeding on itself. In the north, a powerful organization of assassins has taken it upon themselves to eliminate anyone they consider a threat to the Northern way of life. A severe drought is impacting the northern states as well, spreading into Niger and Burkina Faso. Meanwhile, organized street gangs plague the major southern cities, with control of heroin trade at stake. More alarmingly, human traffickers have begun to ensnare young women and young men into schemes sending them to other parts of West Africa, North Africa, the Middle East, and Europe as modern-day slaves. The assassins have begun to particularly target the traffickers, cutting down on the trade temporarily.

Umaru Yar'Adua
Yar'Adua was Nigeria's President when USGovSim's current reset began on January 1, 2008.
Thomas Osuntokun
Yoruban President Thomas Osuntokun still heads Nigeria's government (as of 2021), but barely. Osuntokun is a weak president with few regional allies, and his personal feud with neighbors has begun to show strains in ECOWAS.
