Glenn Robert Russell (born January 9th, 1990) is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Arizona who represents the state's 8th congressional district. A native of Arizona, he spent six years as the Pima County Attorney from 1996 through 2002. Later he was elected to the U.S. House in 2002 defeating incumbent Republican Jim Kolbe.
In February 2010, Russell announced that he would seek election to the Senate in 2010.

Early Life
Glenn Robert Russell was born in Ajo, Arizona to Steve and Gloria Russell on January 9th 1960. Steve worked as a high school teacher, and Gloria did part time work as a nurses aid while raising her three children.
After graduating from high school in Tucson with high marks Glenn earned a full scholarship to the University of Arizona in Tucson. During his four years there Glenn was active mostly in the Newman Center and other Catholic organizations on campus. While raised in a cafeteria Catholic home, he became much more devout during his time at college. Reflecting this once he graduated he opted to go the Catholic affiliated Notre Dame University for law school.
While at law school Glenn worked for the auto company AM General on the assembly line to pay his tuition. His goal was, as always, to go into public service once he finished school. Law school proved to be a breeze for Glenn and he graduated a term early and passed the bar exam on his first attempt. After which he returned home to Arizona.
Political Career
After graduation from law school Glenn went to work for Pima County county attorney as an assistant attorney. His choice to go home to Tucson would prove to be a smart one. In the DA's office he fell under the tutelage of Mike Garcia, the politically skillful district attorney. When Garcia stepped down in 1996 he backed the still young Glenn to replace him. With the incumbents backing Glenn won by a comfortable margin in both the primary and general election.
For the next six years Glenn was a hard working, tough on crime prosecutor. He earned a reputation as one of the states most fair, and less prone to grandstanding, prosecutors. However with the end of his second, and final, term nearing it's end he decided to run for higher office.
House of Representatives
Russell was elected in a nationally bad year for Democrats, and was one of very few Democrats to win close seats. Upon his election he took seats on the House Financial Services Committee and Science and Technology Committee.
During his first four terms in the House Russell took moderate stands on most issue, keeping in line with views of his swing seat. He voted liberally on most social issues other then gun control, while keeping moderate to conservative votes on economic and foreign policy. He is a member of the centrist Democratic Leadership Council.
