The 2012 Republican presidential primaries were the selection process by which voters of the Republican Party chose their candidate for the 2016 United States presidential election. The Republican Party candidate for president was selected through a series of primary elections and caucuses culminating in the 2016 Republican National Convention held in Phoenix, Arizona. In order to secure the nomination at the convention, a candidate needed to receive at least 1,245 votes from delegates.
