Archie Sanford as Flushing City Councillor, 2000

Sanford was born in 1967, eldest son of Grady Sanford and Esther Edith Bunker in Flushing, Queens, New York. Archie got his start on a loading dock in order to help pay for his education, as he lost both of his parents at a very early age. The immense pride that he took in his job as well as his expertise in business matters earned him a promotion, along with the opportunity to finish his B.A. degree in Business Management from New York University, which he earned in 1992.

His charisma and jovial attitude aided in his rise within the community, from NY Board of Education member, Community School District 25 (1994-1998) to Flushing City Councillor (1998-2002), to regional representative in the Northeast Legislature (2002-2006), and ending with a successful bid to become Congressman for the 20th District of New York in 2006. He has been in Congress ever since, winning reelection in 2008.

Representative Sanford has always been a strong supporter of labor and the rights of the American worker, and an advocate for environmental protections. He has also spoken out against the attacks on the rights of citizens and believes that a diverse America is a strong America. His associations include Kiwanis, the National Geographic Society, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and Habitat for Humanity. He is currently single.
