2012 Republican National Convention

The United States 2012 Republican National Convention will take place at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI. It is expected that the attending delegates at the convention will nominate Gulf Coast Governor Matt Mitchell as the Republican Presidential candidate and former Great Lakes Senator Andrew Morrison as the Vice-Presidential candidate for the 2012 Presidential election. 1,191 pledged delegates are necessary for a candidate to win the nomination.

Speakers
In advance of the convention the News Corp online program Olivia Online published a list of speakers which may still be subject to change. The list of speakers includes:
For Day One, the opening of the Convention, Party Chairman and Senator Watkiss, Senator Everson, Senator Perry, Senator Caffee, Congressman Hawkins, Congressman Harris, Governor Jefferson and Speaker of the House Reynard will address the Convention
The Speakers list for Day Two will include both the House Majority Leader Thorndike and the Senate Majority Leader MacLeod as well as Senator Watkiss, Senator Morey, Governor Pizzuto, Senator Alevera, Senator Nielson, Senator Larson, and the Vice Presidential Nominee, former Senator Andrew Morrison
On Day Three, the final day of the convention Senator Lightfoot, Congresswoman Alcott, Congressman Hurley, Congressman Binghamton, and Lt. Governor Moore are expected to address the assembled delegates. On this day Governor Mitchell is also expected to make is acceptance speech.
Day One
- GOP Chairman Jackson Watkiss (R-CA). The Party Chairman officially opened the 2012 Republican National Convention. "The Republican Party will reassert yet again those fundamental values that we are founded upon, and strive on to finish this work we are in so that we might achieve a just and lasting peace, for ourselves and our posterity."
- Reverend Mark Bradford then gave the invocation and offered a moment of silence for the victims of Mexican narcoterrorism.
- Sen. Matt Everson (R-MD) was next to speak on the topic of the crisis in Afghanistan and Central Asia. "I recognize this need for this leadership, and I recognize a strong leader when I see one. That is what has brought me here tonight to recommend to my countrymen the election of Governor Matt Mitchell to the Presidency of the United States."
- Sen. Oscar Perry (R-LA) the addressed the threat of Islamic Extremism. "My friends, we must find a leader who will stand up and say America will not sit back and allow the people of this world to be threatened by the vile forces of terrorism abroad!"
- Former Presidential candidate Sen. Tom Caffee (R-NV) then spoke about the issue of energy independence.
- Rep. Donovan Hawkins (R-TX) spoke about the Republican Party's commitment to America's veterans.
- The first keynote address of Day One was delivered by Rep. Jason Harris (R-ND), Chairman of the House Foreign Relations and Armed Services Committee. In the keynote the Congressman discussed the topic of National Defense. "As the old saying goes, we know her values by knowing her budget priorities: she chose national parks over national security. [...] We must make sure that we never forget that you cannot put a price tag on the security of this nation."
- Gov. Davis Jefferson (R-MO) spoke next, discussing border security and illegal immigration.
- Senator Elizabeth Cauthon (R-MO) then discussed Mexican-American relations.
- Last to speak was Speaker of the House William Reynard (R-WA), delivering the evenings final keynote address. "Turning the United States away from the rest of the world is not an option. [...] Just as we must renew our nation's fiscal house it is time we renew and improve our partnerships."

Hosting City Selection
Initially ten cities made bids to the Republican National Committee (RNC) for proposals to host the 2012 Convention. These were Milwaukee, WI; Cincinatti, OH; San Diego, CA; Chicago, IL; St. Louis, MO; Charlotte, NC; Phoenix, AZ; Philadelphia, PA; Baltimore, MD and Atlanta, GA. After the first round of consideration by the Republican National Committee the list was shortened to include only five cities. These included Milwaukee, WI; Cincinatti, OH; San Diego, CA; St. Louis, MO and Philadelphia, PA. The same day the list of five was published the media also received a list with four additional cities which were initially considered but didn't file their bids in time to make it on the list of then. These cities were Seattle, WA; Tampa, FL; Los Angeles, CA and Grand Rapids, MI.
Earlier than expected the RNC then announced the selection of Milwaukee, WI as host city for the 2012 Convention, a decision which was praised throughout the party and especially by Great Lake Republicans. The location for the convention will be the Bradley Center, home of the Milwaukee Bucks.
