Priya Sarah Anderson was born to Brandon Anderson, a Oregon Coast schoolteacher who married Asiya Maulavi, South Indian Mappila Muslim woman during his time in the Peace Corps. She is a "married" bisexual woman in a lesbian relationship with Khadijah Hasan. Priya is very libertarian on most social issues except for abortion (pro-life), euthanasia (against), and embryonic stem cell research (against); and is economically populist. Priya has a Masters degree in family nursing (nurse practitioner) from Oregon Health Sciences University. She has two brothers and one sister. Priya was elected to the Portland City Council on year before her surprise election to Congress against opponents who admitted to corruption in both the primary and general elections.
