Biography

Thomas Allum was born and raised in Utica, Michigan. He graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Economics. He opened his own local pizza business and eventually became involved in local politics.

Political Career

He achieved the office of state representative in 1998 and successfully ran for Congress in 2002, being re-elected in 2004, 2006 and 2008.

In 2010, Allum decided to instead run for Governor of the newly created Midwest Region, facing journalist Nathaniel Fremont (D-IL). Failing to properly fill in the FEC papers, Fremont was unable to run, and Allum was declared winner with most of the vote. His Lt. Governor candidate, Giselle Hopkins, narrowly defeated Averell Breckinridge (D-MI), though she would later have to resign, leaving the Midwest without a Lt. Governor.
