How To Pirate

Introduction
Welcome to my guide to being a good pirate. In this guide I am assuming you are new to the game and want to become a pirate. It will teach you the important things to remember while pirating. Things like the importance of picking the correct targets, good ships for pirating, etc.
The Basics
If you want to become a pirate, I would suggest having an X-Fighter or GalFreighter to start with, and a basic shield. The X-Fighter has more speed, is cheap (550cr or so), has more missiles, and more countermeasures then the cargo ship you start off with. The GalFreighter has quite a lot of countermeasures, about 10, 88 max speed, and 4 missiles. In my experience this was a good ship to start pirating with, but the price is a little high with over 3000cr price. When you have one of those ships and your basic shields you can buy some missiles and countermeasures from Zoric, which I believe is in Tau Ceti. Now for the fun part, go find anyone with a ship worse than or the same as yours that is carrying some cargo and begin the attack. Set nav target on them so you don't lose track of them and start chasing them, and firing your missiles. When you get close enough to shoot lasers at them shoot off a few at them, if you see a sphere surrounding them when your lasers hit them, they have their shields active and cannot be effected by lasers yet. You can take down their shields with a couple missile shots, then they are effected by lasers for a short time. You can use this opening to finish them off with your lasers, if you don't shoot them for a while they'll repair their shields so be careful about that.
How To Avoid Fire
You can avoid fire using many techniques, like what I call the spin around, keep your ship going at the fastest speed possible while you're being attacked and keep going up, this will make you harder to hit for slower ships because you're going around in circles. TBD
Advanced Weapons
There are other weapons you can buy besides missiles and countermeasures, like repeation lasers and phasers, phasers can go right through other peoples shields and are great laser weapons, but they are VERY expensive. Repeation Lasers I believe are stronger then normal lasers and destroy other ships quicker then normal lasers. TBD
