What if World (also known as WIW for short), or What if Dinosaurs, is a speculative evolution project made by a team composed of 14 members, of which seven are interested on speculative biology (the rest are responsible for turning it into a ZT2 expansion pack). The project centers around a parallel Earth where dinosaurs never became extinct.
[edit] Overview
Despite not being the first speculative biology project about this theme, it is certainly the most accurate so far. It is based on the most recent scientific knowledge, and, unlike the rival project [1], updates are more often.
Unlike The New Dinosaurs, which depicts dinosaurs and pterosaurs as having completely replaced mammals and birds, or as in Spec, where pterosaurs disappeared, all these groups co-exist in WIW. Dinosaurs are obviously the dominant animal clade, both non-avian dinosaurs and birds, but mammals are also very common, having given rise to large herbivore, carnivore and marine species. Pterosaurs survived, although they are nearly all flightless relics living in New Zealand (except for an australian flying specie). Plesiosaurs are reduced to a single whale like descendant of polycotylids, while mosasaurs and choristoderes rule tropical waters; birds and mammals are more common in the polar seas.
