You grab the handle of your sword and pull it out of its scabbard, then swing it in a deadly arc toward your assailant's neck. He throws himself backwards to avoid the blade, but you still manage to slash his cheek. He screams in pain and anger, fumbling for his rapier, and you dive toward him for a quick kill. You never have the chance to strike another blow: one of the man's friends draws a pistol from his overcoat and shoots you in the throat, killing you instantly.
