Alans Smith and Jones was a long-running BBC2 series starring Will Smith and Vinnie Jones. Will Smith played 'Alan Smith', the 'Fresh Prince of Kildare', who lived in a house with Vinnie Jones (who played Alan Jones), a surly ex-footballer trying to break into Hollywood. They were very much the original odd couple, living in a house in County Kildare, in Ireland. Alan Smith was also a blacksmith, while Alan Jones was known as 'Jones the Football'.

The series ran from 1987-1991, with increasingly confusing plotlines including a full scale alien invasion and a plot to chase a fugitive across Harrison Ford. It was cancelled after a disastrous episode featuring the first interracial gay kiss on terrestrial TV, followed by the first interracial gay sex on terrestrial TV.
