My family has received a lease in San Marcos, Texas since I was about eight years old. I loved going deer hunting every cold weather with my step father. I had been looking for five years with my mom and my step dad, and I got to see many animals during this time period. Nevertheless I was too small to carry a weapon into the stand, so I could not wait until I made twelve, because then I could carry myself to a gun. The week-end after Thanksgiving the year I made twelve was my first time to access carry a gun in to the stand. I was still hunting with my step dad, but this time if we found any deer it was my turn to take the photo. I will remember this day for the rest of my life.
We woke up before sunrise and because it was an extremely cold day, I wear my camouflage coveralls, my hiking boots, and my thermal underwear. We went to the deer stand since it was about fifty feet up in the air in an old pine tree, that we called the air stand. We sat very quietly and waited patiently all day, but we didn't see any deer. Then around noon we returned to camp and got out from the stand. Like most times in Texas, the afternoon was much hotter than the day, so I became popular most of my clothes and went around in the woods for the rest of the afternoon.
Then around four we went out hunting again, but this time we chose the stand we called the stand. This stand wasn't known for making a large amount of deer, but we hunted it that day anyway. We waited all morning and did not see any such thing until about half an hour until dark. Then we found a and two yearlings emerge of the woods to the feeder. Not too long next we found a buck come out of the woods to chase the doe. The money eventually settled down and he gave me a great opportunity. The shot was taken by me and he quickly dropped to the floor. We waited in the stand for a little while to give the opportunity to the deer to die completely, and then went down to gather my trophy. It wasn't a buck, but it was a solid eight pointer. He sits proudly on my wall even today, and I'll never forget the journey I took to kill my first deer.
