The Getaway: Black Monday
After the huge success of The Getaway a follow was inevitable. The Getaway: Black Monday was released in October 2004. In this game, Hammond has been replaced by three new playable characters: Groucho, Cheapo and Harpo.
This game is actually set in the past, Monday 19 October 1987 to be precise. This is the date of the infamous Black Monday stock exchange crash. You play the roles of three stock brokers on the verge of suicide and must plan the perfect vaction in order to combat their depression.
The game was heavily criticised for its continual use of Smiths songs.
The Getaway 3
A third installment in the Getaway saga is under development for the Playstation 3. Little is known about this game but runours suggest that, in an ingenious twist, you will play the role of an up and coming travel agent in this version.
Gangs Of London
This is a Getaway spin off title developed exclusively for PSP due for release very soon. It is thought that this new version departs greatly from the tried and tested formula and is actually a third person driving/shooting game based on gang warfare. This new approach has left most indifferent to the release as this new genre holds little appeal to the gaming community.
