In the 1970s, the country Ghana appeared on TV as a private investigator in The Rockford Files.
Ghana was the first country to appear as the lead character on a TV series, and is still to this day the only one. Other Geographical regions of unlikely fame include Addis Ababa and The Democratic Republic of Congo.
Eventually, Ghana itself pulled the plug on the show, despite its high ratings, as some of the residents were becoming tired of the commitment involved.
