Personality
An avid daydreamer, Sora is curious and adventurous, laid-back and good-natured, idealistic and sort of gullible, and generally really easy to get along with (unless they’re one of those horribly bitter sort of people who hate all things good in the world, in which case it’s much harder for Sora to get along with them, but he’ll definitely try 'cause he's friendly like that). He has been described as being "far too nice for his own good." He's not the smartest boy around, but that’s never bothered him. He always does his best and his determination is a powerful driving force in everything he does. Sora cares very much about his friends, as they are the most important things in the world to him, and he would literally do anything for them and go to any lengths to protect them. Since he's so devoted also means that when he makes a promise, he has the full intent of keeping it (promises are very important to him).
Powers and Abilities
As the chosen Bearer of the Keyblade and through the weapon’s power, Sora is capable of several different forms of magic. The Keyblade, for example, is not carried in a typical sort of way. He can will it to come out when he wants it to, and it will often appear of its own accord when needed. The Keyblade also gives him lots of different magic spells, both offensive (shooting fire and ice, etc) and defensive (healing, barriers, etc). He can also combine his powers with the powers of his friends and turn into one of 5 different forms (Valor, Wisdom, Master, Final, Anti-Form) that greatly enhance his abilities. Because of these forms he can also sort of fly around, but not very well (it's really more like gliding through the air).
Outside of the magic powers granted to him by the Keyblade, Sora has the swordsman skills required to actually wield it. He can be considered quite skilled in the art of combat with any sword-like weapon. There’s still a lot of room for improvement and he’s still learning, but what he can do has served him quite well.
History
Once upon a time, Sora was just an ordinary pre-teen boy living in a town by the ocean, just playing and messing around with his two best friends in the world, Riku and Kairi. One day, the day they had decided to take raft they’d built for themselves to go find Kairi’s birthplace (strictly out of curiosity, the way Sora saw it), their home world was attacked by the darkness and consumed. Sora, Riku, and Kairi somehow managed to get away, but were separated from one another and taken to different worlds. On another world, Sora found out that he was the Chosen One of the Keyblade and had to use this mysterious weapon to seal the many worlds from being destroyed by the powers of darkness and the Heartless. He joined forces with Goofy and Donald Duck, and together they traveled through the worlds to accomplish this mission. Along the way, Sora discovered that his best friend Riku was losing himself to the darkness, and ended up having to fight him (and the Heartless that had taken over his body). He rescued Kairi, fought the big bad in Riku’s body, and sealed off the darkness behind the Door of Light, and just when everyone thought it would be a happy ending, Sora, Riku, and Kairi were separated again. Sora promised Kairi he would find Riku and they would all be together again someday. He then continued his journey to find Riku and the king.
At some point immediately after that, Sora, Donald, and Goofy fell asleep and woke up a year later in a place they’d never seen before and with absolutely no memory of how they got there (the truth of it was that they’d entered a mysterious castle called Castle Oblivion, got their memories played around with, fought some baddies, and met a girl named Namine who put them to sleep in order to get their memories fixed). They discovered that a new enemy had appeared, called Nobodies, along with a mysterious group of them calling themselves Organization XIII. After going around to a bunch of worlds, searching for Riku and Mickey, opening corridors to travel between the worlds and fighting through horde upon horde of Nobodies, Heartless, and Organization members, Sora was reunited with his old best friends. Together, they foiled the Organization’s plans, destroyed Kingdom Hearts, and finished off the big bad Organization XIII. For a short while, Sora and Riku were separated from everybody else, but thanks to the Door to Light, they found their way back home.
Relationships
Roommates:
Gertrude ‘Gert’ Yorkes – probably one of the only people in the apartment that he talks to on a more regular basis. He enjoys her company a lot, finding an almost siblial fondness of her and her very awesome dinosaur.
Natsu Dragonil [deceased] – a strange guy, but there’s something undeniably fun and interesting about him. though Sora is under the impression that he’s somewhat reckless with his fun, and sometimes worries that something bad is going to come of it (like stuff catching fire).
Drizzt Do’Urden – hasn’t talked or interacted with him very much, but from what Sora’s seen, he’s a pretty strange guy. He hasn’t made any official decisions about him just yet.
Kisuke Urahara – a strange guy, but Sora actually kind of likes him. he seems really nice and cheerful, so… what’s not to like?
Sasuke Uchiha – [previously dropped] talked to him once about how he missed home… the conversation was a little less than comforting, but it was kind of nice to have someone hear out his worries. Another strange guy. Sora feels like he’s talked to him once before, but he’s not completely sure. He seems alright, if a little cold and grumpy, but when has that ever gotten to him?
Friends: (note: Sora forms strong attachments pretty quickly)
Roxas – his Nobody. Despite the strange nature of their relationship (or perhaps even because of it), Sora considers Roxas to be something between his best friend and his brother. He cares about him a lot, just wanting to see him smile and be happy as much as possible even when he thought this would mean he’d have to keep his distance. He’s glad he doesn’t have to do that anymore, which makes keeping Roxas cheerful a much easier task. He likes to think he’s looking out for Roxas (though the reverse is closer to the truth), doing whatever it takes to get him to relax some and have a little fun, and is more than willing to stick his neck out for him in any situation.
Kairi – Sora’s girlfriend. Given everything that happened to them back home, prior to their arrivals at Manhattan, Sora knows that he loves and is in love with Kairi. He had a crush on her since they were kids, which grew and blossomed with the culmination of everything that happened over recent years and their (relatively recent) reunion at The World That Never Was. Since getting to Manhattan, Sora has missed his friends immensely, especially Kairi, and so finding her there was a pleasant surprise. He just wishes that it hadn’t happened during such rough (and confusing) times. Due to Xellos’ prodding, Sora has involuntarily been entertaining thoughts about what it might be like to push their relationship to the next level. He’s very embarrassed about this and would rather such lewd thoughts be gone from his head, but for some reason they don’t seem to obey his wishes.
Rinali Li – first met her when she was injured and had been the first to rush to her aid. Since then, he’s grown to like Rinali a lot (a lot a lot) since she’s always been so nice and sweet to him. She also gave Sora his first real kiss under the mistletoe, and has since then begun to realize just how much he likes her. This realization is met with much confusion and guilt, since technically he had just sort of gotten with Kairi not long ago. …or something. But in spite of this blooming crush of his, he’s determined not to let it get in the way of a friendship. Sora eventually found out one night that Rinali harbored a crush for him as well, and so despite his better judgment, they kissed. A lot. It went no further than that, though, since neither one of them should have been doing it at all. However, Sora thinks that it may have been responsible for Rinali and Maes’ break up and feels immensely guilty about that. Things have only been more confusing and gut-wrenching with Kairi’s arrival in Manhattan.
Maes Hughes – met him during the water incident, and received a wonderful, nerve-soothing hug from him. He has since been dubbed “Hugtastic Kid” by Maes, a nickname that Sora doesn’t mind at all. He finds Maes to be a great comfort, perhaps going so far as to say he’s developed a sort of familial bond with him. He used to feel a great pang of jealousy (and guilt) when he saw him with Rinali, but now that they’ve broken up he feels even worse, blaming himself for it.
Xellos – an all around pretty strange guy… but Sora figures that’s nothing new (he’s seen people from all walks of life, some things just don’t surprise him anymore). He has some strange powers, like how he can turn himself into a girl (which confuses Sora to this day), and Sora does find it peculiar that such a cheerful person doesn’t have as many friends as one would think… But it doesn’t bother him, despite what other people have said. Someone who smiles that much can’t be bad! There seems to be some kind of strange draw that Sora has toward him, and as such he has made up his mind to always be there for Xellos and stand up for him whenever it’s needed.
Tamaki Suou – the Great and Mighty Leader of the Organization for Spreading Joy Around Manhattan (OSJAM)! Sora is drawn to Tamaki’s boisterous, happy-go-lucky nature. He absolutely loves how he sees the brighter side to everything, which is pleasantly different from how most everybody else in Manhattan is. Together, the two of them aim to bring cheer and happiness to all the citizens, no matter what that may entail.
Maytag – first knew her as the girl who was pestering Roxas with questions about Axel and had been quick to coming to his Other’s aid. Since then he’s grown to like her quite a bit, finding her to be a lot of fun and nice to boot. Plus, she got him a Christmas gift! Of course she’s awesome!
Yukino – a fellow “leader” of OSJAM! Sora’s grown quite a quick attachment to her, even though he’s not really sure why. It probably has something to do with how friendly she’s been to him since they first met and how she always seems to be smiling. Or maybe it's because she's like an older sister that he never had. Probably both.
Homsar – the weird physics teacher who/that can also function as a music box! Sora’s not completely sure why he likes him so much, since he’s really weird and always says really random stuff that makes absolutely no sense… but he’s turned trying to make sense of what Homsar says into a game of sorts. It doesn’t really work, but Sora sure has fun trying.
Acquaintances: Himura Kenshin – a friend of Al’s. Looks like he’s Japanese, which Sora hears is not a good thing around Manhattan. Still, he seems like a very warm and friendly guy, and Sora would like very much to get to know him better, too. He and Al are apparently really good friends, since Kenshin had gone and kissed Al on the cheek under the mistletoe without flailing (Sora didn’t know that two guys could be that close).
Naruto Uzumaki – that blonde kid he ran into during the zombie attack. Sora was told once that he reminded people of Naruto somewhat, but he doesn’t see any similarities at all (yet). He got to convince Naruto to join OSJAM, though, so hopefully this would help them get to know each other better.
Daisya Barry – someone from Rinali’s world! He’s kind of silly and nice, and he sent everyone’s letters to Santa. So far, he’s a lot of fun, and it’s always nice to encounter people who don’t take everything so seriously.
Komui Li – Rinali’s older brother! It seems he likes building stuff, and Sora used to contribute empty soup cans to his effort to build a functioning robot. Komui is obviously a little crazy, but that doesn’t bother Sora at all. He’s fun.
Edward Elric – Maes’ friend from his world and roommate. He seems… grumpy. Sora’s actually a little afraid to talk to him, but from what he’s seen and heard of him, he’s pretty sure he’s a good person.
Alphonse Elric – Maes’ friend from his world and Ed’s brother. He was nice enough to come help Rinali when she was injured, and he seems really friendly besides. Sora hasn’t talked to him much, but he’s sure they’d get along if they ever got the chance to hang out more.
Orihime Inoue – Roxas’ roommate, and who Sora believes Roxas has a massive crush on. He doesn’t know her too well outside of what he’s heard about her from Roxas, but she’s certainly pretty and a nice enough person.
Yoruichi – the cat that changes into a naked woman! Sora had completely not been expecting that. As such, the woman has been dubbed as "totally weird".
Jayne Cobb – some kind of… tough brute guy with a funny orange hat. Sora has absolutely no idea what to make of him, since he didn’t seem all that bad at first (though a little scary and intimidating, to be sure) but Sora doesn’t like the fact that he doesn’t seem to have any qualms about hurting other people.
Xemnas – the guy who used him as a tool to gather hearts and form Kingdom Hearts not too long before they showed up in Manhattan. Sora still can’t find it in him to forgive him for all the suffering he put people through (himself and Roxas included, of course). Sora’s convinced that Xemnas is going to be trying something again, and is determined to put a stop to it before it even has a chance to really begin.
