Shropshire class guided missile destroyer (DDG)
The Shropshire class destroyers (4 operated between 1978 and 2006) were Australian versions of the powerful Kidd class Guided Missile Destroyers.
Ballarat class destroyer (DD)
The Ballarat class destroyers (6 operated between 1978 and 2006) were modified Australian versions of the Spruance class Destroyers. The main modification was the replacement of ASROC with the Australian made Ikara system.
Murray class destroyer (DDH)
The Murray class helicopter destroyers (4 operated between 1979 and 2006) were helicopter versions of the Spruance class. Designed for Anti-Submarine Warfare, they carried 3 Sea King (later 4 Seahawk) helicopters, and Ikara.
