Known as "The Janesville Jammer", Tad Kubler hails from Janesville Wisconsin. Originally the bass player for Lifter Puller, Tad is the backbone of The Hold Steady with his Les Paul/ tube amp driven style. He and Franz Nicolay create the lion's share of the band's musical compositions.

Known to many as being "scary smart", Tad is a proverbial renaissance man. He has a website showcasing his photography (tadkubler.com), serves as a freelance legal consultant and engages in various eclectic pursuits that amuse and beguile him.
