Plagues

Reference to some of the 10 plagues inflicted on Egypt for the enslavement of the Israelites (also see Exodus). 'Swarms of flies' could refer to the 3rd plague, of lice/gnats or the 8th, of locusts. 'Boils and Hail' are the 6th and 7th, respectively.
