In this context my money's on the Johnny Cash one, which is a version of a tradition country song. The Ray Charles version is the same traditional song.

The Johnny Thunders song is also a possibility because The Hold Steady's sound could easily appeal to fans of both Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Thunders.
