-	After [[Bruno]] disappears, [[Mother]] delays returning to Berlin. After several months, she suddenly returns there, having thought that [[Bruno]] may have made his way home. [[Father]] stays at Auschwitz for a year longer, before realising what has happened to [[Bruno]]. It is implied that he is driven insane by the realisation. Some time after that, Russian soldiers arrive at Ausch—er, "Out-With". Father goes with them without struggle because 'he didn't really care what they did to him any more.'	+	The lord of chives, also known as the rat king, snivels back to his home down in the sewers.
