Lamice

Historical notes on Lamice
Lamice was once the favourite retreat of the imperial household. Indeed the Emperor (May he live forever) himself had a residence on the southern continent of Jh'Dun. The planet's many archipelagos and wide lake areas were kept only for his High Imperial Majesty's pleasure and that of his many guests. However, the well known accident which caused the injury and near death of the Emperor's (may he live forever) 257th daughter, caused his High Imperial Majesty such distress that he opened the planet to colonization and private initiatives.
The planet became a HUGE hit with the post-war crowds, clambering to see its beautiful natural sights as well as the remains of the impressive, 578 roomed imperial residence with its exquisite grounds. A colony consisting mostly of high-end resorts and support facilities formed on the north-western continent of S'fon and it soon spread to the neighbouring island chains as well, with each hotel claiming an island as its own.
The expansion was unimaginable and it wasn't too long before the natural woodlands around the resorts began to be cut down to make room for bigger more extravagant facilities. Lakes we drained to make room for golf courses and three-tiers-waterfall-included swimming area.
Indeed, left unchecked, this advance would have covered the whole of the planet leaving little room for anything else... but checked it was.
On the 50th anniversary of the colony's inception, the governing council of the Lamice sector invited his High Imperial Majesty for a tour of the planet. The Emperor was overwhelmed at the change. It is said he even wept at the sight (though reports are sketchy and unconfirmed).
As a result of this tour, the Imperial council was instructed to transfer the planet to the hands of skilled planet-re-constructionist and to restore it to its former grandeur.
It was agreed that the north-western continent, which had sustained the most damage, will house a colony and that the other areas of the planet will, once restored, be made into natural reservations.
Economy and currant situation: Lamice is located in the central part of the empire and in close proximity to the industry area of Grecein. As such, it has a booming trade and shipbuilding based economy the pride of which is the "Lamice constrictor Corp." which employs over 38% of the colony's population. The few hotels in the colony provide tours and transportation to the planet's many beautiful sights along with many other amenities which have awarded them their high ratings in the "Imperial Guide to Leisure". A new imperial licence has recently opened up the neighbouring island chains as a food growing location. These endeavours are, off course, monitored by the Imperial Authority on Conservation. Tours lead by IAC-licensed guides are available through the local tourist bureau.
Due to the tireless endeavours of its many keepers, Lamice is once again becoming the gem it once was, and is one of the most beautiful spots one can visit in the central empire.
