Hoanda
From The Pardusian Chronicles
[edit] Historical notes on Hoanda
Originally established as a military outpost during the first intergalactic war, Hoanda was the ammunition depot for the 2nd Human Homeworld Defense Fleet based at Beta Proxima. After the war ended, the depot was decommissioned to reduce military expenditure, and the station fell under disrepair. For years, it was a ghost station. Then it was seized by pirates and smugglers as a base of operation. The human government, burdened with the rebuilding effort on the core worlds, adapted a policy of passive tolerance on the growing pirate infestation problem.
After two decades, the situation finally changed when the pirates ambushed a large convoy carrying vital medical supplies for the plagued Orerve sector. The ensuing epidemic on Orerve caused massive death tolls, and the public demanded retribution. A small taskforce was hastily assembled, and over 7 months time and 43 skirmishes, the taskforce finally boarded the station and eliminated the pirates. Still lacking the funding for a permanent military presence, however, the government chose to turn Hoanda into a civilian base rather than risk it falling under pirate’s hand again. Thus, the present day Hoanda station was born.
Few nowadays in this quiet sector remember the bloody history this corner of the cluster once knew, although it is rumored that in particularly quiet work shifts, one can occasionally hear the sounds of the final battle, echoing throughout the hallways of Hoanda Base.
