Zaniah

A backwater world on a secondary route from the empire to Nex-004. Zaniah has only one claim to fame: being the birthplace of the current Emperor. This was the result of a "mechanical failure" which left the royal family stranded for several weeks while on a grand galatic tour. The Emperor, content with the privacy, decided to wait for repairs and the birth took place shortly thereafter.
At the time of it's discovery by the Empire, Zaniah was inhabited by a primitive Keldon civilization. Although the natives possessed a respectable grasp of organic technology, it's full potential was never realized without metallic goods. From trade and cultural exchange, city dwelling Zaniahanites are now a modern people with a unique perspective. The lack of resources and independent nature of the inhabitants has left Zaniah separate from any faction.
The technology of the metropolitan areas are exclusively maintained by import from external sources. The lack of mineral resources results in an unslakeable thirst for metal and derived goods. The main exports of Zaniah are cabbages and other Brassica, including broccoli. Many blame Zaniah for the emperor's rediscovered Broccoli fetish. A good price is paid for Bio waste and energy to maintain the sizeable industrial Broccoli farms.
As noted by the Emperor, Zaniah is a quiet and idyllic stop for weary travelers. A must see for those who lover greenery and good atmosphere.
