"Using the force to mash potatoes is not irresponsible at all. It's practical"
― Kienshi

Kienshi Tian is a human male and current Jedi Adept of The Jedi Order. He was trained to the rank of Adept by Xiahou Kun. His main skills are with archiving and academia, and as such spends long periods away from the Temple studying at planetry Universities to expand his knowledge. His skill with saber is limited, which has prevented him from reaching Knight for many years, but his primary style is in yellow stance practicing Niman, and swiftly switching to Djem So when he loses patience. He is a cousin of Wolf Sazen and a distant relative of Dei Kaithus. Him and Wolf bully Dei though, because Dei sucks quite a lot. But hey, what else is the force for?

Biography

Early Life

Kienshi Tian was part of a wealthy family in the cultural capital of Esseles, Calamar. This city is known for it’s devotion to the arts, and his father was an owner of one of the cities popular theatres. He believed that his life would revolve around the stage and from birth expected a life of theatre on his home planet.

This all changed when he discovered that he was force sensitive. The family had birthed potential Jedi before, the most successful of them being Kienshi’s cousin Wolf Sazen. He was far older than Kienshi and had spent his life training, moving through various clans.

At this time Wolf was a member of the Jedi Council for the clan “Jedi of Freedom”. He had no Padawan and when he heard that Kienshi was force sensitive he sent word across the Holonet offering to take Kienshi to the {JoF} Temple as a hopeful.

Kienshi left shortly afterwards to begin his career as a Jedi

{JoF}

Kienshi moved quickly through the {JoF} ranking system. Upon arrival Wolf Sazen managed to convince the Council that he could take Kienshi on directly and skip him past all of the Hopeful and Youngling stages that most Jedi admitted to the temple went through. Partly because of Kienshi's age, and partly as a favour to Wolf the Council allowed him to do so. Kienshi then spent many hours training with his new master and learning the basics of lightsaber combat, force control and understanding the teachings of the Jedi.

Wolf was a tough master and continuously pushed Kienshi to take trials and improve his rank. This Kienshi did, and he passed his first set and moved up to the second stage of {JoF} Padawanship: Jedi. He barely scraped through the trials by having a lucky duel against his master, which he didn't win, but dealt enough damage to slip through and by successfully completing the jump trial. It was really his knowledge of the Jedi Code, the Jedi Law, and the theory behind the lightsaber forms that moved him up as he could quote the information word perfect. This head for knowledge and facts would serve Kienshi later in his career.

At this juncture of Kienshi’s career Wolf started sharing with him some anxieties he had about the direction in which {JoF} was heading. Some of the newer members were straying off the path of the true Jedi and their masters were not stopping them. The clan leaders also were distant and frequently away from the temple meaning that there was no definite watch over the Temple. The council were becoming complacent and the clan seemed to be at a halt.

Wolf suggested a move to a Yavin based clan called {TO} The Order. He knew some people who were part of this clan and cited it as a place of honour; a cut above {JoF}. Kienshi didn’t have to follow him. However, he too had felt disillusioned about the direction of his clan and the two of them left shortly for Yavin.

{TO}

Kienshi Tian and Wolf Sazen arrived at {TO} Academy no longer as master and student. They were now equals and both hopefuls to a new clan.

Right from the outset Kienshi could see the differences between {JoF} and {TO}. For one thing, it was far more challenging. At {JoF} Kienshi had been a reasonable dueller. At {TO} he found that he lost the majority of training duels. This did not matter to him, it only confirmed in his mind that leaving {JoF} was a positive notion.

In {JoF} Kienshi had been immediately accepted as a padawan. This time he had to go through the process of becoming initiated and then earning a learner’s badge before this was even considered. It was going to be a very different road than last time.

Wolf Sazen was accepted into the clan before Kienshi in a large clan ceremony in the great hall. Kienshi's acceptance a month later was much different. The Council were suffering from bureaucracy and were getting little done, so Jedi Master Zree held a private ceremony in the Council Chambers to accept Kienshi without their permission. This caused a minor uproar from the Council, but they could see the wisdom of Zree taking action rather than allowing stagnation. Kienshi was now an Initiate.

Padawanship

Kienshi spent many months building himself towards Padawanship in {TO}. He first had to earn his Learner's badge, which required attendance of two classes, two missions and two events. Only then could he be eligable for selection. Kienshi found himself entering saber touraments, attending classes on Galactic History and going on missions to hostile planets. He would never had done this in {JoF} as he wasn't pushed to risk it. But in {TO} it was a necessary part of training and so he found himself learning more than he'd thought possible upon his arrival.

Once achieving his Learner's badge, Kienshi waited for a master to select him. He came in the form of a new rodian Knight named Xiahou Kun. A week later Kienshi found himself standing on a pillar waving his saber back and forth. Xiahou took him straight back to basics and completely reworked his technique. He trained Kienshi primarily with yellow stance to counter the powerful red stance that Wolf had taught him in {JoF}. Kienshi's skill was not in combat however, but he did his best to learn. It would be a long time before he was ready for any trials though.

A New Path

Shortly after Wolf Sazen left {TO} Kienshi found himself disillusioned with what he was trying to achieve in the clan. He began to quickly lose interest in saber combat and became more interested in the study of the Jedi histories, the force and the theory of lightsaber forms. He began avoiding training with his master and spent more time in {TO}'s archives than its dueling rooms.

A week in the Coruscant library changed Kienshi's path as a Jedi. He learnt about the life of a Chronicler, whose job it was to document the Galaxy for others to learn. He realised this was more suited to him than the dangerous life of a Jedi, and after spending time in lectures and student bars the choice became clear.

Kienshi resigned from {TO} and became a student at the University of Coruscant. From there he studied with ambitions to become a High Chronicler. For years he never looked back thinking he had found his place in the Galaxy.

Eltra Zia

After building a respected academic career and much partying at University Kienshi bought himself a moon in the far reaches of the Galaxy. There he dedicated his life to writing a history of the Jedi. It was going well until an unexpected visitor arrived. Wolf Sazen had found Kienshi and needed his help. The clan he had joined after {TO} had fallen to the dark side, and he had narrowly escaped with his life.

Kienshi took care of him and tried to remember his force training when healing his wounds. Wolf stayed for a while after that working out what he wanted to do next. It was only after a few beers one night that he proposed an idea. He wanted to start his own clan with Kienshi. With his knowledge of combat and Kienshi's of academia they had a perfect base to begin one.

Kienshi took some winning over, but realised all he'd learnt at University would be useless if he didn't apply it and teach it to others. That night Kienshi and Wolf shook hands and agreed to start a new clan. They named it {V}. Venerate.

{V}

After buying an abandoned planet called Ashran that used to belong to an old Jedi clan called Amity Wolf and Kienshi set about trying to establish their own Academy. Kienshi had heard of force sensitive students on the frozen planet of Romanius nearby that had yet to be taken into training. These would become their first students.

Soon they began to find out the history of the sector they were in. Many years ago there had been a great war between three allied Jedi clans known as the Shialink wars. One of the greatest Jedi of the day, who was from Romanius and known as Azrael had gone missing after that war. Kienshi found from records that he was in fact a prisoner of one of the three clans, Shi, and had been trapped for many years.

Kienshi and Wolf knew they needed more Knights in the clan, they couldn't handle teaching all the students themself, and so after hiring some Jedi mercenary they conducted a daring raid on the planet of Shi. They were forced to kill many people in the process, but they took Azrael back to Ashran with them, along with two of his former students Vamushka and Lane. One of the mercenaries they had hired also joined the clan, and so suddenly they had a strong base from which to train. This was made stronger when a few days later ex-Jedi Master of {TO} Zree landed at the temple. Now they could truly begin to train new Jedi.

Unfortunately though the Academy was becoming bankrupt. After rebuilding the temple, travelling between planets and hiring mercenaries they had all but used the wealth Kienshi had gathered as his years as a Chronicler. They needed more money. The answer came in an exbedition advertised on the Holonet to map unchartered regions of the outer rim. They needed a skilled Chronicler who could defend himself, and Kienshi fitted this description. Although he would be gone for a couple of months the pay would last them through for many years.

Kienshi took the job and left for his mission. {V} was running smoothly and seemed to have a great future ahead of it. However, just a few days later Shi landed on the planet. They had tracked the Academy down and wanted their revenge. {V} were not ready for such an attack. Many young Jedi from Romanius died. The temple was destroyed and the Knights were forced to flee. They escaped to different parts of the galaxy.
