Animutations are a form of Pop Art enjoyed by the group, especially since Junior year of high school. Its absurdist influences can be seen as complimentary to pre-existing group activities like the Drawing Game.
Favorites
- Yatta: Music video featuring six Japanese men dancing and singing wearing nothing but fig-leaves. Both the original video and it's remake, "Irrational Exuberance" were enjoyed by the group throughout 2002-2003, especiallyJason and Terry. Perhaps indicative of How we are all so gay.
- Hyakugojyuuichi!!: Discovered in 2001 by various group members, but "re-discovered" by the larger group as the Animutation fad grew. Extensive use of pop culture clipart, including Harry Potter heads and a fleet of Pee Wee Herman-manned ambulances. Mistranslations from the Japanese lyrics, such as "found a hobo in my room", especially enjoyed. (see Things Misheard)
- Hatten ar Din: Especially enjoyed by Asher in 2001. Features slow-moving cut-outs of family portrait heads drifting around an ornately-decorated room, with a Turkish hat anthem playing in the background.
- The Fingertips Project: A staple for Asher-Kevin sing-alongs in the summer of 2005, especially during the Cape Flattery Trip. Created by various artists as a sort of animutation-opera, appearances are made by Alex Chiu and Jesus among others, culminating in a dramatic scene where Colin Mochrie feeds his body to various disembodied heads.
